Nadine Burke teaches how memories of our childhood determine the rest of our future. Just like in the story "Catcher in the Rye" written by J. D. Salinger. Holden Caulfield is a sixteen year old boy who lives his life in the past. He tries to relive his childhood by going to the places that he use to as a kid. Such as the Museum and Pond. These things bring him happy memories, but he also had a bad event where his brother died. This brought a darker side to Holden, and so he lives his life living the past memories instead of moving on. Nadine Burke Harris states that our past affects our future. She brings into details that bad events that happen to us as a child can stick with us for the rest of our life. So we have to move on and learn from our past. She brings in work of those who had a bad childhood and how they were depressed. Our childhood affect our future.
